SGU Essay option not given

Hello guys,

I just recently had my interview for SGU Med program. After reading the threads, I prepared for the essay questions too but I was never told to write an essay during the interview ... ?
The interviewer did ask me to complete a questionnaire though (7-8 questions that required answers about goals, time-management, motivation, conflicts experienced, ..) so that he can know his applicants better prior to the interview.

Could this be a red flag that he didnt even consider me for the essay?

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Opportunity

SGU MD 2013 doing a gap year before starting derm residency in July (it took 3 years of research fellowships after my prelim IM and even then, I was lucky). Been spending some time at a derm pharma company near Philadelphia that is getting ready to launch its first product in April. They are currently using an outside vendor for MSLs but want to hire their own full time MSL. Position requires frequent national travel in addition to strong research and teaching ability. You must also be very professional, charismatic, organized, and an excellent communicator. This is a great opportunity for a highly motivated but unmatched MD grad interested in pursuing a pharma career instead of practicing medicine. PM me for details.

Does anyone know what is the average MCAT of SGU given the new MCAT? Is it true that the average MCAT score was 26 for the old MCAT and the therefore the equivalent for the new MCAT is 501?

What is the class size of the first semester classes nowadays? When I was there it was in the mid to upper 400s. I heard its somewhere around 800s now?

Thats kinda cool bc there will be more SGU grads out there but kinda nuts to think about that many people on campus? I m guessing they probably expanded the campus as well?

SGU or Reapply US

Hey everyone. Need advice from people who went the FMG route please! I applied to 7 US schools including 1 DO school. I was rejected from all 7, but I have been accepted to SGU for Aug 2017. My MCAT preparation was subpar for both exams, and I was dealing with health issues that affected test performance during both exams as well. I am confident that I can take an MCAT prep course and get a higher score, but even with that, I may not get into a US school. I can retake MCAT and apply for the 2018 cycle, but wouldn't be able to complete a post bacc or multiple science courses by then. Any advice is appreciated from people who have been there! Thanks!
Stats:
GPAc: ~3.45/3.5
GPAs: 3.1 (56 science hours)
MCAT #1: 492
MCAT #2: 491

Hi everyone, desperately in need of advice.

What do you think are my chances of getting into a Caribbean medical school, I'm quite certain these grades won't get me into any med schools in the US?
Grad school GPA: 3.56
Undergrad GPA: 3.05
Science GPA: 2.7
MCAT: pending

Help please and thank you.

Roundabout right of way

Regarding the roundbouts here on Grenada, I understand
that the person already in the roundabout has right of way
over someone approaching the roundabout. Makes sense. However, I
was recently going to Spiceland Mall on my scooter and
not in the roundabout (I was on the straight road to the left of the roundabout along the park) and about to turn left as I approached Camerogne Park. The guy already in the roundabout was turning left too, as he exited the roundabout and expected me to yield, even though I didn't see a blinker and expected him to continue in the roundabout and not turn left at the upcoming street. He made a big production of it and cursed a bit.
What's the law on this? When you are driving straight, minding your own business, it's hard to predict what someone to your right (exiting the roundabout) and slightly behind you is going to do. Are we really supposed to yield? Just trying to avoid any future drama.
When I drive to campus each morning there is a roundabout close to Fish-and-Chicks and I would expect people to yield for me there as I make the loop, but that seems quite different because I am physically on the roundabout for about 40 meters) but near the roundabout I am talking about above near Spiceland there are 2 distinct lanes (one straight, one curvy) and you never feel like you are part of the roundabout if you are driving in the left lane.

Year 2 advice

Hello, first time posting. I recently completed my first year at SGU in the medical program. While I passed both semesters, I do not think I was in the top half of my class academically (rarely performed above average on exams). In addition, I did not perform well on the BSCE 1 exam that we took at the end of this past semester. Though passing the exam was not required, my score did end up hurting my WMPG for that term (which I did not expect). I am looking for advice on how to improve during my second year (in particular this next term containing pathology and microbiology). My performance to this point has me greatly discouraged and extremely apprehensive on the effect that my current level of performance will have on my scores on the STEP 1 and the remaining preclinical semesters. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

SGU off- Campus housing

I am a first term Student at the St. George's University and I am sharing my experience with the real estate company COPAL. After contacting two real estate companies who were taking the piss, I went on the SGU housing page recommended by my mate, where I saw multiple students appraising this company so I checked them out. Given that it would've been my first time living in Grenada and off- campus for that matter, I was a bit skeptical but they really exceeded my expectation by providing me with videos of both the interior and exterior of the apartment.
Upon getting here my agent met me at the airport, escorted me to the apartment and ensured that I was well settled.

Thank you COPAL!

Deposit due while still waiting on response from top choice school

Hello all,

I was recently accepted to AUA and my deposit is due in a couple of weeks. I was also just granted an interview at SGU (my top choice school) for next week. I am having a dilemma now. AUA refuses to give me an extension for payment of the deposit, but if I am accepted to SGU, I will surely turn down my AUA offer. In short, I don't want to waste money on this nonrefundable deposit to hold my seat at AUA just to end up turning it down for SGU if I am accepted. I also don't want to risk losing my seat at AUA in case I am denied at SGU. Do you think I should let SGU know about this so that they may possibly give me an expedited response? I am afraid doing such a thing may hurt my chances and I feel that asking them to give me a quick response is out of line and borderline disrespectful. I just don't know what to do because I am not in the financial position to waste money on a deposit for a school that I may not end up attending. Any advice?

Hello. I recently applied for the spring 2018 semester at SGU. I wanted to start a thread for people who have either been accepted or waiting to hear back. For those who are waiting to hear back. How long ago did you apply/interview? For those who are accepted, how long after your interview did you receive a decision?

St. George's University Timeline

Hello all,

I am going to be an incoming CFP student at SGU this spring, meaning I will be officially beginning the MD program in August of 2018. I just wanted to ask if someone here could give me some advice about the USMLE step 1 timeline for August start students. I know for students who start in January, they get a few months off before having to sit for step 1. For students who start in August, however, how much time do we get so study before we have to sit for step 1? I have heard that term 5 ends in May and rotations start in April. Is it possible that they would make us sit for step 1 before we've even finished term 5? I'm sure I am mistaken, but I would like some insight on this from anyone who has been through it. Thanks!
